Rendering of the BMW Guggenheim Lab in New York

In the short time since founding his Copenhagen architecture and design practice in 2006, Julien De Smedt has become known as a young provocateur and talented dream-realizer. Besides completed projects such as the Holmenkollen Ski Jump in Norway and designs such as the Bone chair, De Smedt has developed a portfolio of urban proposals for cities around the world, ranging from Shenzhen and Las Vegas to Rio de Janeiro. For his presentation at the BMW Guggenheim Lab, De Smedt looks at the future of urban life and wonders what might bring comfort in the decades to come.
