This series of events uses food and drink as a catalyst for conversation about the cultures reflected on the tables and streets of Mumbai, addressing local and global issues of nutrition, food production, food security, and safety.

    Join local experts in small groups around the city to explore Mumbai’s local spice trails in four distinct neighborhoods.

    “Girnichi Chav”—A Taste of the Mills!

    A melting pot for migrants, Mumbai’s mill communities once sparked a remarkable system of food distribution and a unique cuisine that fused diverse flavors and traditions. In this “Food and Memory” event, we explore women’s histories in the mill-worker community, and look at how their individual and collective lives shaped the flavors of this city.

    Maazhi Maach (Our Fish!)

    Learn about the Koli struggle firsthand and discuss solutions, while immersing yourself in the rich Koli culture in this evening of singing, storytelling, dancing, sharing, and of course, eating.
